High-Fidelity Rendering in Unity
Human-Robot Interaction​
While Gazebo is great for physics, Unity excels at visual fidelity and human interaction. For a humanoid robot to learn to interact with people, it needs to perceive realistic human avatars and environments.
Unity Robotics Hub​
We will use the Unity Robotics Hub, which provides tools to:
- URDF Importer: Import your robot description directly into Unity.
- ROS-TCP-Connector: A bridge that allows Unity to publish and subscribe to ROS 2 topics over TCP.

Simulating Social Cues​
In Unity, we can script human avatars to perform gestures, speak, and move.
- Animation Controllers: Trigger animations (waving, pointing) based on robot actions.
- Proximity Triggers: Detect when the robot enters a "personal space" zone.
